Only seven days after going down to their opponents by 20 shots, Civic looked a different side as they won their first premiership as a new entity.
Skip Scott Widdison was the biggest winner.
After trailing 8-0 after four ends, he defeated Jim Leferve 29-14 to put Corowa Civic on the road to victory.
Max Scanlan accounted for Les Spencer 31-16.
YMGCR’s Gary Sanders kept his team in touch by defeating Dawn Hayman 35-12 while Ray Irvine and Tom Webb played a 20-all draw.
Sanders had outstanding support from Anne Miles, Victor Brincat and Claire Sanders.
Corowa Civic team manager Col Hendren described the win as a strong team performance.
“It was a good, solid effort,” Hendren said.
“Everyone played well.
“We were up 52-27 at tea and YMGCR came back and only trailed by five shots with two ends left.”
Hendren said it was difficult to say why Corowa Civic turned the tables on YMGCR.
“I’m not sure,” he said.
“We have sometimes struggled the week after a break so that might have had something to do with it.
“YMGCR played very well last weekend too.
“It was good to bounce back the way we did.”
Corowa Civic lost three matches during the season and played two ties.
The match was switched to Wodonga from Corowa Civic late last week after YMGCR called for a neutral venue.
Despite heavy rain in the lead-up to the match, the greens stayed firm and were running at about 14 seconds.
Wodonga gained some consolation for its dramatic A1 fade-out by defeating Kiewa 101-89 in the A2 grand final.
The Bulldogs also defeated Yarrawonga 107-61 in A4.
Moira edged out Corowa Civic by four shots in A3.
Tungamah, Benalla (1), Yackandandah and Corryong also came away with premierships in the lower grades.
Corryong collected a fine double in the B4 and C grades.
