More than 4000 tickets sold in less than two weeks, making it the fastest sales in history.

Winemakers of Rutherglen executive officer Natalie Ajay urged festival-goers to buy their tickets for the June long weekend event now.

She said one-third of the tickets had already sold.

“Ticket sales are stronger than we’ve ever seen them and it really illustrates a huge demand for one of Australia’s oldest and best wine festivals,” she said.

Ms Ajay said a record number of patrons attended last year’s festival, which set a precedent for 2017.

“Customers had a ball last year, with more than 13,000 people attending over the two days,” Ms Ajay said.

“We’re expecting a slightly higher number this year, although we’ll be monitoring ticket sales closely to make sure we can manage the bumper crowds and provide a safe, fun and enjoyable atmosphere for guests.”
