From the day patients began to be accepted on September 5 to the end of February, approximately 8000 radiotherapy sessions and 4400 day chemotherapy treatments were provided.
There were also approximately 5000 consultations with Border Medical Oncology, 400 patients admitted to the inpatient ward and 70 different clinical trials.
The centre, managed by Albury Wodonga Health through a partnership with Ramsay Health Care and Genesis Care, has taken in patients from as far as Mansfield.
Doug McRae, chief executive of Ramsay Health Care Albury Wodonga, which provides hospital services at the centre, said on average, 35 patients a day were treated in the day chemotherapy ward.
“Ramsay Health Care is contracted to treat both public and private patients and there is certainly no difference in the clinical care provided to any patient,” he said.
“All patients occupy rooms with the same facilities and individual views and receive the same clinical care.”
