Etu Uaisele, Joe Veramu, Ben Taylor, Tuki Jackson, Mac Daly, Michael Bray, Levi Freeman and Hugh Duncan have been named to take on the Dragons.
“I’m happy with the side,” Jackson said.
“It was hard leaving a few players out but that’s a good problem to have.
“We’re looking forward to playing.”
Thunder turned in a strong performance before going down to Queanbeyan 24-18 in their final practice match at Greenfield Park last weekend.
Jack Watson will play the opening two matches of the season before leaving the Border.
Chris and Mitch Seaton, Andrew Cowhan, Ben Jeffery, Jay Little and Matt Garness have departed.
Temora will be missing fullback Jordan Ballard and second rower Kris Rands through injury while Sam Elwin is still playing in France.
“At the moment we’ve got a really good 14, but we’re struggling a bit for depth,” coach Grant Boyd said.
“Hopefully things will only get better.”
