A press conference had only just started outside Albury police station about 10.30am on Monday.
Detective Inspector Winston Woodward was speaking to the media when a dishevelled man, who had only just crossed Olive Street, yelled out “bullshit”.
The high-ranking officer excused himself and walked over to the man and ordered him to tip out his half-drunken Budweiser stubbie into the garden and put the bottle down.
He grabbed the man, told him he was being arrested for swearing in public, and took him into the station.
The man appeared shocked by how quickly things had unravelled for him.
The incident was captured by several television crews, including Prime7 who supplied the footage to The Border Mail.
