Overdue is flying after stepping up in distance this preparation and even surprised his connections with a fast-finishing third placing in last month’s $180,000 Albury Gold Cup (2000m).
Overdue will step out for the first time since in Gundagai’s feature on Sunday, as he looks to plot his path towards next month’s $150,000 Wagga Gold Cup (2000m).
Overdue is already qualified for the Wagga Gold Cup after winning the Albury Mile.
Davison believes Overdue will take some beating at Gundagai.
“On his current form, you’d think he’d just about put them away,” Davison said.
“He’s met most of these and beaten them. The main thing is if he handles the course well. If he does, I expect him to win.
“He gets in well and there looks to be a bit of pace in the race.”
