MURRAY Bushrangers coach Sam Ahmet has described the inaugural TAC Cup Girls competition as an outstanding success after his side came agonisingly close to winning the title.
The Bushrangers beat Oakleigh Chargers by four points in their final match at Craigieburn on Friday to finish with a 5-0 win-loss record.
Despite being undefeated, the Bushrangers finished second to Calder Cannons on percentage.
“It was a good season,” Ahmet said.
“Not so much because we were undefeated but more how fast it has grown in the area especially with the North East girls.
“There was a lot of improvement as a team and they gelled really well together,
“The girls have been really good.”
The Murray Bushrangers defeated Sandringham Dragons, Bendigo Pioneers, Gippsland Power and Geelong Falcons earlier in the competition.
