Coming from the widest draw, the Kym Davison-trained mare worked her way to the lead before having to sustain plenty of pressure on the way to victory.
Headed at the top of the straight, Real Calm ($5.50) fought on stoutly to defeat Mywordsaidthebird ($5.50) a neck.
Davison was pleased with the tough display.
“One or two actually got about half a length in front but she fought back,” Davison said.
“It was quite a strong win.
“It was a real gutsy effort as just on straightening a couple got past and she fought back on the rails, got her neck back in front and held them off.”
Davison is now considering a tilt at the Queen Of The South with the six-year-old over the Wagga Gold Cup carnival.
He’s also set Overdue for the Murrumbidgee Turf Club’s biggest race.
