Ms McGowan is increasingly confident Federal funding for track upgrades will come in next month’s budget and also said recent meetings with Public Transport Victoria chief executive Jeroen Weimar and V/Line counterpart James Pinder had been “positive”.
“Once the Commonwealth government makes an announcement of funding for rail track investment, I call on the State Government to commit to begin the process of replacing the rolling stock,” she said.
“The prospect of significant funding through the inland rail project is very encouraging.
“I have had positive meetings now with PTV and V/Line, which are state-owned, and the Australian Rail Track Corporation.”
