Meat processor JBS has extended its Cobram abattoir shutdown for another four months, blaming a lack of suitable livestock.

Employees were told this week there would be no work for them at least until September.

Nationals Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy has urged Premier Daniel Andrews to met with staff at Cobram.

“This is a serious situation we are facing in Cobram with hundreds of workers impacted. This has a flow-on effect throughout the community,” he said.

“Daniel Andrews need to show some support for these workers, our town and for regional Victoria.”
