Momolong Station Woolshed near Savernake stood the test of time for more than 160 years.
At one stage it was understood to have had 100 blade shearers working on the board.
In 1891 Momolong comprised 30,000 acres and carried 30,000 sheep and had a 1200-bale wool clip that year.
Corowa-Berrigan Rural Fire Service Zone group captain Greyd’n Davis said Berrigan, Oaklands, Savernake, Coreen and Nyora fire brigades attended the scene on Tuesday morning.
“Ten RFS tankers and 25 firefighters spent 2½ hours controlling the blaze and making the scene safe,” he said.
Police are investigating.
