Firefighters were called to a Boorhaman property about 2pm on Thursday.
The residents thought they had extinguished a fire but it spread, and burnt out a $50,000 motorhome, storage shed, old vehicles and about five hectares of grass.
Operations Officer Car Stibilj said several burn offs had gotten out of control since fire restrictions were lifted.
“They thought they’d done the right thing but by the time firies had gotten there, it had done a bit of damage,” he said.
“Even though there’s been a bit of damage, and rain forecast next week, it goes to show burn offs can escape fairly easily if not properly attended.”
Firefighters responded to a similar incident at Tarrawingee about the same time.
