Round four of the Hockey Albury-Wodonga division one competition got off to a roaring start with Norths coming away with a 5-2 victory in an entertaining men’s clash with Falcons on Sunday.

Both teams had plenty of fire and attacking play with Matt Russell solid in defence for Falcons, trying to put a hold on Norths’ scoring opportunities.
Jordan Thoneycroft was also very strong in defence for Norths, keeping Falcons’ opportunities to a minimum, while Larry Simpson had more than his fair share of the ball through the midfield and in attack.
Norths played a better team game in in the forward half, and, in the end, this was reflected on the scoreboard as they came away with a 5-2 victory.
Thorneycroft finished with two for Norths, while Ian Beath , Jeremy Payne and Ewan Kelly finished with one apiece.
Zac White was the only goal scorer for Falcons, finishing with a double.
Other results in the men's saw Wodonga draw with Wombats, while Magpies proved too strong for CR United, 2-1.
In the women's, Falcons moved two points clear on top of the ladder after defeating Norths 3-1, Magpies won 3-0 against CR United, while Wodonga had a very strong game against Wombats, coming away with a 5-2 triumph.
The men’s ladder is: Wombats 8, Magpies 8, Norths 7, Falcons 4, Wodonga 4, CR United 1.
The women’s ladder is: Falcons 9, Wodonga 7, Magpies 6, CR United 5, Norths 4, Wombats 3.
