His clubmate Michael Hodgess was a runaway winner in the grade four award, while Commerical’s Ralph Behrends and Terry Chambers were involved in a three-way tie with Howlong’s Jason Hetherton for the top honour in grade five.
Ron Weisner did Walla Walla proud by winning the grade six Bowler of the Year title, while Urana’s James Field and Lavington’s Allan James were recognised for top seasons in grade seven.
The district’s pennant winners were also officially crowned, as well as the respective winners of the singles, pairs, triples and fours championships.
Further high achievers were inducted into the association’s Hall of Fame, while a special presentation was made to founder and Commericial Club bowls stalwart John McDonell, who clocked up 50 years of pennant during the 2017 season.
