Ironically, the last time representative football and netball was played together was against Goulburn Valley in Shepparton in 2008.
Coaches Tamara Mathews and Kelli Moylan have selected a final squad of 12.
Lavington has the most representatives including Skye Hillier, Sarah Meredith, Rhiannon Dolahenty, Ainslee O’Connell and Kate Yensch.
Yarrwawonga and Wangaratta each had two players named, with Hannah Symes and Bridget Cassar selected from the Pigeons, alongside Magpies’ Issy Byrne and Hannah Grady.
Albury’s Jess Fisher-Curnow was her club’s sole representative, as was Sophie Hanrahan from Corowa-Rutherglen and North Albury’s Emily Browne.
Mathews believes the side will be strong defensively due to plenty of previous experience playing together.
“It’s probably dominated by the three Lavington defenders, but Hannah Symes is in that mix as well and she’s played with them,” she said.
“I think there’s familiarity there, likewise at the shooting end with Jess Fisher-Curnow who has come back in to Ovens and Murray and she’s played with Bridget Cassar before and Sophie Hanrahan and Bridget played together last year.”
Star Lavington defender Rhiannon Dolahenty will make her fourth interleague appearance and is looking forward to playing alongside the football with an “exciting squad” on Saturday.
“I think it will be really good to gain that relationship between the two avenues and it’s a really good mix for the league,” Dolahenty said.
