The Northern Victoria MLC was selected unopposed by the party this week.
She said she was thankful to colleagues for their support and wanted to continue work to develop jobs in the region and work through the lst of schools that needed funding.
“I think I’ve earned a lot of trust with schools in that’s what I’m trying to deliver,” Ms Symes said.
“Now I can concentrate on finishing this term and I hope that’s enough to convince people that I’ve done enough to go again.”
She was preselelected alongside Mark Gepp, a veteran union official and advisor to former Emergency Services Minister Jane Garrett, who will replace retiring MP Steve Herbert after he quit following revelations he had used his government car to chauffeur his pet dogs around.
The Victorian election will be held in November 2018.
