The Thai international convicted for attempted murder over a stabbing in Peechelba in November 2015 has been sentenced to nine years in jail.
Charan Hannarong, 39, will have to serve at least six years before he is deported back to his home country.
He was dropped at Wangaratta Hospital with stab wounds himself on November 21, 2015.
A woman was dropped at the hospital with similar wounds – inflicted by Hannarong – a short time later.
