No matter how far you bash your way through the bush to get to a secluded spot you always seem to see an old beer can lying around.
It doesn’t seem to matter which reserve you want to camp on or whatever state or territory you’re in, you’ll find rubbish all over the place.
If you’re close to town or 500km from the nearest town the problem is still the same, some people are inconsiderate, lazy, dirty pigs.
Some federal and state government departments are just looking for excuses to close public access to reserves... here we are giving them the perfect excuse to do it.

They don’t want to have to pay out a chunk of their budget to clean up after us, and who can blame them.
I believe there’s three kinds of idiot.
There’s the one who just opens up whatever he or she is using at the time and doesn’t even blink when dropping the packaging or whatever on the ground around them.
You almost feel sorry for those ones because they’re so dumb they don’t realise they’ve done anything wrong.
There’s the ones who chuck their stubbies and cans into the fire, believing that by some miracle they’ll dissolve away, never to be seen again, until someone’s wandering around with bare feet.
My personal favourite though is the idiot that tries to ease their own conscience by neatly packing all their rubbish up in garbage bags and leaves them leaning up against a tree.
That works fine till nightfall when every wild cat, possum and fox in the area decides something in there smells OK and crap gets strewn all over the joint.
The only way we’re going to keep these reserves and access points open is to not only stop dumping stuff, but pick up after those idiots that do.
I know it’s not right and it’s not fair but maybe it’s time for all of us to carry an extra one or two garbage bags and spend that extra 10 minutes or so to pick up other people’s junk. I know it’s not a great story but it’s happening everywhere and something’s gotta change.
At A Glance
Dartmouth – has picked up even further the past week or so with plenty of reports of trout coming in. There’s not too many monsters in them but everyone seems to be doing well. Cowbells or fenders with the old Moonbait scrub worms behind is as good a method to get a feed as any.
Mulwala – has been good, as has Blowering on the reddies and Jindabyne for the trout.
