James Kreutzberger has been named club coach after leaving a decade ago to join Rand in the Brocklesby District.
And it was a successful stint too, coaching eight years and claiming five straight premierships.
The 41-year-old will be a playing coach at St Pat’s.
“I just felt it was time, the opportunity arose to take it on,” he said.
Kreutzberger did some part-time work with the club last season on Tuesday nights.
St Pat’s has been perennial finalists, but missed out last season by 0.02 points.
“There’s been a transition of senior players to come out of the A grade over the last four or five years and the challenge is to transition the younger guys coming through the ranks,” he said.
Paul Azzi and ex-player Drasko Kristo will be assistants.
