Edwards has found purpose in a program he formed to help vulnerable young people from tumbling down the same path.
Outside The Locker Room is tailor-made for teens and young adults at sporting clubs, providing education and support to ease them through the daily challenges they may face with drugs, alcohol, mental health and self-esteem.
Myrtleford is the first club in the region to take up the information night while Goulburn Valley clubs have been involved.
The function starts at 7.30pm with several neighbouring sporting and community clubs set to attend.
Edwards was drafted to the Blues in the 2005 national draft and spent two injury-troubled years at the Northern Blues before breaking through for five senior games in 2008.
A year later he was delisted.
