Police the believe the car, which was stolen from Kooba Street, was set alight on a hill and left to roll down.
When it came to rest it was just one metre from the Colley Street home, having rammed through a colourbond fence, which bore the brunt of the impact.
Residents were evacuated from the house, but were permitted to return a short time later.
Authorities believe the fence prevented the flaming car from colliding with the northern wall of the house.
