The underdogs took care of Albury United 4-1 last weekend – the side that provided the biggest challenge to the undefeated Albury City so far.
Diamonds’ star Blair Rankin said the result has really lifted the group ahead of their biggest test.
“Our passing was amazing, our girls walked off the field not even puffed,” Rankin said.
“We made the ball do all the work and worked really well as a team.
“We definitely surprised ourselves and really did come together after that.
“City have definitely shown where they stand this season, so we’re not taking the match lightly at all.”
Rankin added the side is still carrying a few injuries and will have three key absences on Sunday.
“We’re hoping we can still get the passing together, but the three girls are going to be hard to replace,” she said.
Albury City returns to the park after two weeks off due to both Twin City Wanderers and Wodonga Heart not fielding senior women’s teams this season.
However, City goalkeeper Brogan Broadway doesn’t feel the break will disrupt any previous momentum the side had.
“Training sessions are still going really well, so we’re not worried about that at all,” Broadway said.
“We know what to do when we’re out on the park, so I’m guessing we’ll get straight back into it.”
