Sunerton claimed the crown after a thrilling late-race charge.
The Patriot Motorsport entry was sent to the rear in the opening heat race after sustaining significant damage while leading, but Sunerton and the team launched a herculean effort to repair the car, before going on to win and finish third in their remaining heat races.
Lining up eighth for the feature race, Sunerton quickly set about working her way through the field, making her way up to fourth in the early stages, before later taking over second spot.
Keeping close to the rear bumper of defending Queen of the Mount Champion Brooke Ferguson, Sunerton launched a number of attacks on the race leader, before impressively managing to pip her on the last lap.
Ferguson didn’t give up the position easily, with the pair continuing to battle through to the chequered flag, with Sunerton getting the edge over Ferguson by the narrowest of margins.
The entire Patriot Motorsport team couldn’t have been more ecstatic with the victory.
“Honestly, winning the Queen of the Mount almost feels too good to be true,” Sunerton said.
“I can’t thank (team owners) Reg and Kat Corbett enough for giving me this opportunity.
“The car felt absolutely amazing all night and it made my job as a driver much easier.”
The next outing for the Patriot Motorsport team will be Saturday night at Swan Hill’s Sonic Speedway for the annual Mallee Masters, with Jacob Mills back behind the wheel.
