The total is 20 above the previous high for the event which raises funds for the community’s Scout troop.
Baranduda Scout group leader Brendan Greaves said it was hoped at least $2000 could be raised to assist in fixing the organisation’s hall on the Kiewa Valley Highway.
“We can’t hire the hall out because of the state of the kitchen and the toilet block,” Mr Greaves said.
Outdoor male toilets attached to the 1955 hall have been closed for two years because of safety concerns and there are no disabled ramps to the indoor female cubicles now being used by both genders.
Assistant Cub Scout leader Dennis Ramsay, a double leg amputee, said improving egress was vital.
“It’s very, very important, at the moment we don’t have toilet access for anybody with a mobility disability,” Mr Ramsay said.
“Somebody with a mobility disability can’t be included in the Scout group.”
Sunday’s garage sale will run from 8.30am to 1pm with maps to the participants on sale at the Scout hall for $2.
Venturer Andrea Bejsta, 16, said the day allowed Joeys, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers to bond.
“It’s a good social thing and it’s good fundraising, not only for the group but for Venturers,” Andrea said.
“We’ve got the Australian Venture coming up at the start of next year and a lot of us are fundraising for that.”
Stalls of secondhand goods will be set up at the hall and a ute-load of timber will be raffled to aid the Venturers.
The troop has nearly 100 members with two inquiries a week from newcomers.
