Maxwell Andrew Jambor, 23, was moving his car after a night on the grog last month when he came unstuck.
Jambor was in his vehicle in the Border Just Foods car park in Hume Street, Albury, about 1am on April 23.
He was trying to put it into reverse but drove forwards, off the edge of the concrete car park and into a garden bed.
The vehicle became stuck and Jambor told officers a friend had been driving, but left the scene.
Despite claiming to have only had four stubbies, he returned a reading of 0.168 and was unsteady on his feet, stunk of alcohol, couldn’t follow directions and was confused.
Jambor later admitted he was driving.
He told the court he needed his licence to get to hospital and clinics, but said he had a bicycle to get around.
Jambor said it had been a foolish decision and he had panicked after the smash.
Magistrate Tony Murray cancelled his licence for six months, fined him $1000, and ordered he use an interlock for two years after he returns to the road.
