The call by animal liberationists to breath test hunters is just further proof that they know how to press community buttons. Instead of gaining any widespread support for worthwhile issues many of their actions are purely counterproductive. In response to this latest homily maybe the hunters might suggest that activists should be drug tested. Maybe the real intent in the message is that hunters are a pack of bloodthirsty drunks. This is offensive and pays no head to the work sections of the hunting fraternity play in the control of feral animals.

Climate
This was written by a Queensland academic doctor, and just defies reason: “Climate change is a disaster for our health. As an emergency doctor, I see an increasing number of people with climate change-related illnesses coming through the emergency room door. Heat stroke, people affected by bushfire, blood infections from injuries brought about by a flood. Some of these people will be critically ill before getting better. Others will never leave.”
Just for the record, smoke inhalation has been around for ions, as have water borne diseases from floods.
Mess
The CFA is a mess. No one seems to know what is going on with the management of what has been a gem in the crown of volunteering. Everyone has got the message that the ways of a union have prevailed in the halls of compliant parliamentary power where paid firefighters are going one way and CFA volunteers another. How this will pan out is anyone’s guess that will only be tested in a major conflagration. One thing for sure is that our wonderful volunteer firefighting force will rise to the challenges posed by a union driven paid workforce. Not only will they prevail but will provide a level of safety for rural communities and landholders far and beyond what any other system could deliver.
