But the Yorke Peninsula outfit will clear him back to allow the multiple Doug Strang medallist to play the final two months.
Prior has spent a number of months working in Adelaide.
“We cleared him to play on Saturday with the knowledge that he’ll be cleared back for us,” Saker said.
“We wanted to play him on a permit, but we couldn’t, then I didn’t think, personally, we could get him a clearance, but, eventually, the board approved it.
“We’re thinking he’ll be back for the last eight games.”
The news comes on top of Lavington’s gritty 48-point caning of a woeful Wodonga Raiders.
It’s been a bumper round seven, spearheaded by the wooden spooner’s thrilling loss to a grand final contender.
Corowa-Rutherglen hasn’t won since 2015, but had Wangaratta at its mercy with a five-goal plus lead, only to fall by two points as injuries and the Pies’ class told.
“We stole it mate, look at the end of the day good sides find a way to win,” Wangaratta coach Dean Stone.
The win capped the ideal celebration for the club’s Porter brothers – Judd and Daine – who racked up their 250-game milestones.
