After trailing for most of the day, the Lions booted goals in the third, fifth and 17th minutes of the final quarter to be on the verge of pinching victory.
But Stevenson had other ideas as he coolly slotted a goal from 45m to hand the club its second victory of the season.
“I reckon it made the distance by half a metre if that,” Stevenson said.
“I had most of the Culcairn crowd beside me as I was kicking it and I thought if I miss this I’m in a bit strife.
“It would have been really disappointing to lose as we had a two or three goal buffer for most of the game.
“It keeps our season alive.”
Defender Andrew Ollington continued his fine season while Nathan Rhodes and Nathan McClelland were also productive.
Jye Shields played well for the Lions.
