The unbeaten Bulldogs were too slick for their opponents with Magpie coach Craig Bosley saying it was difficult not to be impressed.
“They are a very good side,” Bosley said.
“We did a lot better against them than last time though when we lost by 20 goals and I think they were impressed by us.”
In one of the highlights of the match, Bullioh’s Hamish Clark and Border-Walwa’s Dan McCarthy went head-to-head and racked up possessions.
Clark kicked seven goals last time the teams met and was again prolific.
But Bosley said McCarthy more than held his own.
“They had a really good battle,” Bosley said.
“Dan played a great game for us and got a lot of the ball in the middle.”
Border-Walwa, who held an Indigenous ceremony before the match, were also well served by Dan Leeworthy and Ray Estrada.
It was Estrada’s first senior match in seven years.
“Apart from Ray, we didn’t have anyone out there over 25 years old,” he said.
Bullioh is expected to welcome back several key players for next weekend’s showdown against the Demons.
Corryong brought down rivals Federal by 58 points at Corryong.
With Tom Nicholas playing well in the ruck and Jarrod Cass and Jarrod Williams dangerous in attack, the Demons were never challenged on the scoreboard.
Adrian Rijnbeek also dominated for the victors.
But Federal showed considerable improvement from its clash against Corryong earlier in the season when it lost by 100 points.
“I thought we had a lot of positives,” coach Gerard Midson said.
“We improved by seven goals and that shows the kids are coming along.
“It was a pretty good effort as we took 17 players into the match.
“We will just keep ticking along.
“Both sides had players missing and hopefully we get a few back for Cudgewa as it’s an eight-point game next weekend.”
Federal were best served by Tom McKimmie while Peter Whitty and Dylan Haycraft also played well.
Cudgewa’s Aaron Monk and Luke Bloom peppered the goals in the Blues’ big win over Tumbarumba.
They kicked seven and six goals respectively as the home team recovered from a poor first-half.
Mitch Pynappels and Jack McInerney also played well.
Tumbarumba showed plenty of spirit early with Hamish Hillier on top.
Thomas Bennetts and Tim Post were in everything while Mason Tait kicked three goals.
The ladder is: Bullioh 24, Corryong 20, Cudgewa 12, Federal 8, Border-Walwa 8, Tumbarumba 0.
