Falls Creek enjoyed a total of 13 centimetres of snowfalls over the weekend, but dumps of up to 40 centimetres are forecast later in the week.
It was a similar story at Mount Hotham, with 22 centimetres falling over the weekend.
With the annual Ice Plunge coming up on Thursday, Falls Creek resort management’s Jo Prothero said the early snow was a good sign for the season to come.
“We’ve woken up to a winter wonderland,” she said.
“The Ice Plunge is our way of appealing the snow gods for a good season, so hopefully this means we’re doing something right, keeping them happy.”
The 2017 ski season is set to officially open on June 10.
