Despite taking a relatively inexperienced side into the clash, the association won 2-1 at Wagga Rules Club on Sunday.
Maurie Braden and Josh Rudd skipped their rinks to three wins.
It was the Ovens and Murray’s first victory since they took the honours at Wagga Leagues Club in 2003.
They won the opening two Tests 109-104 and 133-108 before going down to the hosts 67-62 in the third showdown.
“It’s been a long time coming,” skip Ashley Bates said.
“Some of the young fellas like Mason Bayliss played extra well.
“We had a few out from our group side but we brought in a couple who haven’t played for us that much lately and they did a terrific job.
“Zone 8 had a few players missing as well.”
Zone 8 is made up of six districts with Kim Maher, Glen Harrison, Terry Hensel and David Barnes representing Albury and District.
