Coach Sam Livingstone revealed at least two more players will make their senior debut this weekend after pleasing performances from teenagers Adam Healy and Nick Wood last weekend.

Both sides have just one win to their name thus far, with DMB getting off the mark against the Wodonga Saints last weekend.

Livingstone admitted his side will be treating it as a winnable game, but knows they have to show plenty of respect to the opposition. 

“I’m sure they (DMB) will be too, Benny (coach Ben Mitchell) will have them absolutely gunning and he’s in pretty good nick himself coming off a five-goal haul last weekend,” Livingstone said.

“They’ll be treating it as a huge game for them to go for two in a row and we’ll be out to finish off a good patch of form over a few weeks.”

Livingstone’s men had their best performance of the season in a narrow 17-point loss to leaders Wahgunyah last weekend, which he hopes they can build on. 

“To perform at a consistent base of footy for the majority of the game was pleasing, but a loss is still not acceptable and we know that,” he said.

“We really had the chances to win the game, but the certain moments in the game we missed, they took.

“The effort is always there, the beauty of the young boys is they love to crack in and play hard footy, we just need to keep teaching them the execution of the skills and the lapses in concentration at certain times.

“Everyone probably wants a few more of those (experienced) guys, we’ve got some senior guys and four boys that played in the 2015 premiership.

“We’d like to think we’re starting to educate the boys, but it’s obviously going to take a bit of time, so we’re looking to make up a bit of ground in the second half of the year.”

Livingstone has been particularly impressed with the likes of young guns BJ Maddock, Dan O’Connell and Harry Forelli.

“They’re only 18 and 19 years old these boys and you forget they’re that young,” he said.

“Even some of the local boys like Matty Thomas, who is only 22 and just performs every week and the likes of Andrew Wood, our vice-captain, who has been superb down back.”

Elsewhere around the league, Thurgoona will look to continue its good form with a strong performance away against Chiltern.

League leaders Wahgunyah clash with an in-form Kiewa Sandy Creek.

Mitta United will look to get back to winning form when it hosts Beechworth at Eskdale.

Wodonga Saints will face another huge test at home against Rutherglen, while Yackandandah will be out to snap a run of three consecutive losses with a victory over Barnawartha.
