A YARRAWONGA family created history on Saturday with three siblings debuting against Wodonga Raiders.
Bailey Frauenfelder played his first game in seniors, Austin debuted in the thirds, while Indiana pushed up to A grade.
"It was a very good experience to play with the older girls, I learnt how to play strongly," the 14-year-old said.
It was also a winning start for Bailey, who kicked two goals, after hitting the post with his first touch at senior level.
"Having a couple of (Murray) Bushrangers' games under my belt helped, the quickness of it helped me keep up with the speed," the 17-year-old said.
It was a tougher day for Austin's Pigeons' outfit, falling to Wodonga Raiders.
"Indiana making her debut in A grade and Austin making his in the thirds, it's been good," Bailey said.
Indiana was asked if the debuts were the talk of the breakfast table.
"We don't have brekkie together," she laughed.
"I'm very proud of them, it's a good effort by all of us I guess.”
PANTHER PAIN
With Lavington depleted by injuries at the weekend, the Panthers could have done with some of their former players who were in action at Walbundrie on Saturday.
Kade Stevens, Nico Sedgwick, Luke McLellan, Liam and Aidan Johnston, Justin and Jarod Koschitzke, Luke Brauer, Luke Schilg, Jarrod Hillary, Jordan Grimmond and Lachie Boyd were playing seniors for Brock-Burrum against Rand-Walbundrie-Walla.
Joel Hartley was out injured while Daniel Hitchens played in the reserves.
The Giants had a strong Lavington flavour as well with Myles Aalbers, Nick Turner, Ryan Lavery and Lewis Gardiner performing well.
Brock-Burrum has also taken one of the quickest runners in the district off Lavington with Mark Stevens relaying the messages from the coaches box.
HOPPERS’ EARLY RISE
North Albury’s dismal final quarter against Wangaratta didn’t go down well with co-coaches Clinton Gilson and Dan Leslie.
They ordered a 7am training session at Bunton Park on Sunday.
“We were shattered with the way we finished the game,” Gilson said.
“Wang’s a good side, but they kicked 8.7 to nothing in the last quarter.
“Our efforts have been good over the past few weeks, but that wasn’t acceptable.”
STALWART DIES
Long-time Wodonga player and supporter Bill Hedley has passed away, aged 85.
Hedley was a tireless worker for the club, being heavily involved in junior coaching and administration.
His son, Steve, played in the club’s 1981 flag.
