Cofield Wine’s Reserve release 2006 Pinot Noir Chardonnay was included in wine writer Tyson Stelzer’s top 150 Australian and New Zealand wines for 2017 announced this week.
Winemaker Damien Cofield said it was the first time the winery had made the list, which represented only 70 wineries.
“When you have a look at the list and the quality of wineries represented it is quite humbling to be included with wines such as Grange and Hill of Grace which have been pillars of our industry for such a long time,” he said.
“2006 was a special vintage for us and the wine has certainly developed nicely since then.”
Rutherglen Winery Walkabout visitors can sample the wine in Cofield Wines’ Reserve tasting area.
“This year we’ve got market stalls, live music and of course lots of nice wines to try as well as our iconic Sweet Ava Slushies,” Cofield said.
“The weather looks like it is going to be on our side which should make for a fantastic day out for all.”
