About 8pm, reports came through of an incident on Chiltern-Rutherglen Road involving firearms.
Victoria Police media spokesman Sergeant Cameron Scott said a 59-year-old man was shot by police after he allegedly threatened them with a firearm.
“It’s believed police were initially called to the rural property in relation to a domestic violence incident involving an axe and a firearm,” he said.
“The man has been taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm.
“No one else was injured in the incident.”
A roadblock is still set up a few kilometres from the property.
More to come.
