Thieves targeted Brad Ley’s Holden outside his Park Lane home in Wodonga on May 2.
People made offers to loan Mr Ley a car after reading about the incident in the media, and a second car has now been stolen from the house.
Thieves went into his home on June 10, took keys to a white Hyundai Accent, and drove off.
Detective Senior Constable Andrew Leonard said police were investigating possible links between the incident.
“It certainly would appear to be linked, but there’s a possibility it’s not,” he said.
“Obviously it’s devastating on this occasion.”
A man was caught on CCTV footage filling up the first stolen car with petrol at the Barnawartha BP on May 4 before driving off with $86 in fuel.
Detective Senior Constable Leonard is appealing for help to track down the man.
Both stolen cars have not been recovered.
