The driver, aged in his 40s, died at the scene after his four-wheel-drive struck a B-double truck near Lowesdale, about 17km north of Corowa, on the Riverina Highway.
The driver of the truck, aged in his 30s, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital for treatment and mandatory testing.
A crime scene has been established and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
The Riverina Highway is closed in both directions while the scene is being examined.
9.30pm: The Riverina Highway was closed north of Corowa on Sunday night after a serious collision between a truck and a car.
The accident happened about 17km north of Corowa, near Lowesdale, about 8pm.
The highway was closed in both directions and motorists were urged to avoid the area.
Police were unable to provide an update on the condition of the drivers at 9.30pm.
