The chill is upon us and the welcome mats are out at the region's pubs.
From the beautiful Victorian North East, across the Border region and heading north into the lovely landscape of the southern Riverina, options are aplenty if you're looking to get out of the house but stay warm indoors.
Perhaps you've been wanting to explore what the region's country towns have to offer and are looking for somewhere to warm up with a meal, or are looking for somewhere to catch up with friends.
Wander through our country towns and the local pub's menu offers a tempting array of fare, often created with local produce.
Australian Hotels Association Victoria senior manager membership and industry engagement Kimberley Malcolm said a cosy pub with a warm, welcoming vibe is just the place to be on a wintry afternoon.
"Consistently good food, cold beer or a glass of local wine continue to be just some of the necessary staples that see iconic bush pubs thrive during the colder months," Ms Malcolm said.
"The pub is at the heart of the community.
"People flock to the pub to celebrate, commiserate and often to just feel connected to the people around them, making up the local fabric of the community."

Ms Malcolm said the North East was spoilt for choice when it came to pubs serving up "that special kind of country hospitality" and she encouraged residents to make the most of the country pubs that are right on our doorstep.
"The area is also lucky to have wonderful local produce for pubs to showcase on their menus, but don’t just think wine.
"Increasingly we are seeing pubs start to brew their own beer and cider to complement their hospitality offer.
"The pubs in the North East bring paddock to plate alive – from free-range pork through to chicken and beef, there’s nothing better than knowing that the menu is supporting local farmers too.
"Hotels are the centre of our smallest and most remote communities and it’s the basics of hospitality that shines through.
"So put on your winter woollies and enjoy the hospitality that is a country pub!"
