A degeneration of the nerves in his back legs saw Jimmy fitted to his new “wheelchair” at Allpets Veterinary Hospital in Albury this week.
It was a $465 investment that owner Kris Greenwood was happy to make, rather than see her beloved pooch of 13? years put down.
“I thought you wouldn’t do that to your grandfather if he needed a wheelchair,” she said.
“And other than the problem with his back legs, Jimmy’s perfectly happy.”
Ms Greenwood picked Jimmy up from the RSPCA shelter when he was just a year old.
She said his legs had weakened in the past couple of months, and was in tears when she first took her best friend to the vet thinking that he would have to be put down.
But Allpets veterinarian Miriam Meek said Jimmy had Paresis and he still had a couple of years left in him.
“It’s not painful to him at all, but he’s wobbly,” she said.
