With the Bulldogs sitting pretty with a 9-1 win-loss record, officials have wasted no time signing the former Ovens and Murray stalwart for a second term.
The club is well on the way to shoring up its list for 2018.
While Bahr is reluctant to say whether Jindera has peaked this year, he’s pleased with the first half of the home and away series.
Jindera’s probably not our ideal ground as we have recruited to play at Walbundrie.
- Kerry Bahr
“It’s hard to say (if there is improvement left),” Bahr said.
“We have a reasonably young group who will have ups and downs.
“I think we are a better team on a bigger ground.
“Jindera’s probably not our ideal ground as we have recruited to play at Walbundrie.
“Whether we will get there or not it’s a bit early to tell just yet but our game lends itself to a bigger ground.”
Bahr’s comments are supported Jindera’s devastating performance in thrashing Culcairn on the big Culcairn Sportsground last weekend.
The Bulldogs ran riot with Sam Myors, Saw Crawshaw, Julian Hayes and company unstoppable on the wide expanses.
Holbrook will face similar problems holding Jindera at Jindera on Saturday.
“From what you hear Holbrook is young and keen and up and about,” Bahr said.
“They look like they have improved from the early rounds.
“They will be hard to knock off.
“I think we’ll have a decent game on our hands.”
Holbrook’s mid-season revival was snuffed out by Brock-Burrum last weekend and Josh Jones and Brad Carman will need big matches to hold Jindera’s midfield.
Howlong and Culcairn will be desperate to atone for poor performances when they clash at Howlong.
Both sides were blown away after half-time last weekend with Lion co-coach Adam Eady eager to see an immediate response.
“We were disappointing,” Eady said.
“It’s a really tight season and, with eight games left, I reckon we need to win five of them.
“Howlong’s probably in a similar boat situation.
“It’s a really big game for both clubs.”
Culcairn will be without Peter Cook (calf-Achilles) and Jed Andrew (broken thumb) for at least a month.
Spider midfielder Tim Brook escaped a striking charge earlier this week.
Brocklesby-Burrumbuttock take on Henty at Burrumbuttock.
The Saints have won their last four matches and the bigger bodies of Jarrod Hillary, Kade Stevens and Aidan Johnson should prevail.
