The club’s grade six side will head to Tamworth in August to represent the Albury and District Bowling Association after taking out the Zone 8 playoffs at Wagga Rules Club last weekend.
Incredibly, North Albury scraped into fourth spot by half a point to reach the finals of the district pennant season, where they ultimately prevailed.
The Hoppers were too strong for Leeton and District in the zone quarter-finals, winning 68-59.
On Sunday, the local side defeated Tarcutta by the barest of margins, 55-54, to book a place in final against Yerong Creek, who they went on to beat and claim the title, 65-55.
North Albury president and member of the winning team, John Eddy, admitted his side was the least expected team at the club to even make it to the zone playoffs.
The Hoppers’ sixes were the only Albury and District side to progress to the state event.
In grade three, Howlong was ousted at the semi-final stage by Wagga RSL, 62-59.
However, one highlight to come from the clash for the Spiders was an eight-shot end from the team of Jeff Brundell, George Lee, Wayne Daly and Ian Doolan.
In grade four, Holbrook won through to the final before going down to Club Tumut, 63-46.
Howlong lost to Quandialla by five shots in the semi-finals of grade five, while Henty was bundled out in the quarter-finals in grade seven, losing 85-48 to Yenda.
