Victoria Police has temporarily withdrawn all fines issued by the state’s fixed cameras after a virus was found in the system.
While the Wodonga camera wasn’t on the first list of 55 affected cameras – with motorists told the fines wouldn’t be withdrawn – Police Minister Lisa Neville said she couldn’t be certain of which cameras had been infected.
The issues were more widespread than initially thought, she said, with close to 100 of the devices known to be affected.
The virus was transmitted through a USB stick during maintenance of the cameras.
The cameras were affected between June 6 and June 22, but operator RedFlex did not report the problems to police until Thursday.
