A fight began between members of a Border football club about 11.30pm on Saturday.
The club members had been fighting with other patrons when the mug, which was given out as a netball award, was thrown.
The mug struck a fellow teammate, causing a 35 millimetre cut to the back of his head.
The player was arrested and charged with reckless wounding and affray and will front Albury court.
