Wodonga vice-captain McKye Turner produced one of his finest games to celebrate the century against Lavington.
“One thing we speak about with Chief all the time, regardless of his game output by numbers and ball use, his effort levels are always enormous,” coach Dean Harding said.
“I’ve seen from game one to game 100 and I’ve been really pleased with a great kid that’s come into our group, he cares about the group, he cares about the boys, our supporters, he actually does give a stuff.”

DAZZLING DOSWELL
Wodonga co-captain Brett Doswell kicked two brilliant near 50-metre goals against the Panthers.
“I thought his leadership was what stood out, I know his ball use and his numbers were great, but it was more his leadership he showed, he’s just a class act,” Harding said.
SO SORRY
The O and M has become so professional, in so many aspects, it’s virtually dog-eat-dog when it comes to getting the better of another club.
So it just shows have tough Corowa-Rutherglen is doing it when your opposition co-coach feels sorry for you.
“Yeah definitely, I think they’re not a bad bunch of blokes actually,” Albury’s Joel Mackie said.
“You feel for them when they’re down where they are, it’s not what we want in the competition.
“Hopefully they can get a few more back in the next few weeks and be a bit more competitive.”
FAB FOUR
Wodonga Raiders claimed the big scalp it needed to become a genuine contender.
The youthful line-up had suffered losses between eight and 15 goals against the big guns.
And it was the work on Wangaratta’s top players which proved crucial in the nine-point win.
“We put a lot of time into (Josh) Porter, (Matt) Kelly, (Michael) Newton and (Mat) Grossman to a lesser extent on half-back,” coach Daryn Cresswell said.
“Raven Jolliffe did a great job on Kelly, while Dylan Clarke was really good on Grossman.”
And there’s more good news with Brodie Filo expected to play against Wodonga on Saturday after aggravating a knee injury suffered at training on Tuesday night.
BOUNCING BURGESS
It’s difficult to gauge to what level, but there’s no doubt the mid-season return of Christian Burgess has had an enormous impact at Myrtleford.
The Saints were on the verge of bowing out after nine rounds, but they could be in the top five on Saturday.
“He’s a positive character and he gives confidence to people around him as well, he’s just a team player,” Myrtleford coach Leigh Corcoran said.
The home team will start favourites against Lavington.
