After losing to Riddell and Goulburn Valley in the opening two rounds, Tamara Mathews and Kellie Moylan’s side powered home to finish third on Sunday.
Shooter Sophie Hanrahan and defenders Kate Yensch and Sarah Meredith turned in strong performances.
“We were a bit slow to get going and that cost us a spot in the finals,” Mathews said.
“It’s that type of tournament where one loss can affect your whole tournament.
“After that the side did really well.”
The Ovens and Murray comfortably defeated eventual champions Bendigo in their pool match.
In the under-17s, the Ovens and Murray missed out on the semi-finals by percentage.
Wodonga Raiders shooter Georgia Thomas was forced out of the side after injuring her ankle on the Saturday.
