Puckett tore his meniscus during the Roar’s 3-2 loss to Albury United at Jelbart Park on Sunday.
He has ruptured the ACL on both knees during his career, but is regarded as one of the most professional players in the competition in terms of his work ethic.
With just nine rounds to play, Roar coach Adam Gatcum is hoping to have Puckett back in time for finals.
“It just depends on his recovery,” Gatcum said.
“It will be about six weeks recovery, but he had to go for a second opinion.
“I thought it was his best game of the season against United.
“It’s a real shame, but that’s football and those things happen.”
Melrose’s Josh O’Brien will miss the next month after dislocating his shoulder against Albury City on Sunday.
