Kangaroo Island might just be one of those destinations you haven't considered for an Australian island holiday.
If you're keen to see nature at its best, though, but still have those little luxuries at hand this could be the place for you.
If you're looking to escape Albury-Wodonga this winter for a change of scenery then exploring Kangaroo Island has a plethora of natural attractions to offer.
Sealink South Australia marketing manager Julie-Anne Briscoe said Kangaroo Island was just a 45-minute ferry trip across from Cape Jervis on mainland South Australia.
Cape Jervis is a 1.5-hour drive from Adelaide.
Ferries carry passengers and cars and operate up to 12 times a day during peak periods.
"The great thing is that there are no huge bustling resorts like some island locations, or kid’s clubs, or massive theme parks, there’s no line-ups for the restaurant at dinner time, no rush to secure a lazy-boy by the poolside at 7.30am in the morning and there’s not a fast-food outlet on every corner," she said.
"In fact there are not even any traffic lights on this island!
"KI (as the locals call it) is one big adventure playground where Australian native animals such as kangaroos, echidnas and koalas roam free, where you can freely sand-board down huge sand slopes at Little Sahara, join a wildlife quad-bike adventure, go kayaking in rivers, explore underground caves, walk on a beach amongst a colony of wild Australian sea-lions and much more."

Ms Briscoe said there wasn't only activities for the kids (or big kids).
There are also honey farms, a eucalyptus oil distillery and cheese and yoghurt tasting at Island Pure Sheep Dairy.
Visitors can also enjoy wine tasting at cellar doors featuring stunning sea views and delicious meals of delicious marron (fresh water crayfish) at the Andermel Marron Farm.
"The island is a fisherman’s paradise as well as having the most stunning white sandy beaches for swimming and surfing," she said.
Ms Briscoe said in terms of accommodation choices on the island, visitors had a huge range of places to choose from, including stunning beachside holiday houses, cabins, apartments, caravan parks and hotels –so there is something to suit all tastes and budgets.
