A spokeswoman for the Andrews Labor government said an application had been lodged under the Fair Work Act seeking an end to the company lockout.
She said an independent umpire in Fair Work Australia was best placed to help both parties reach an agreement.
“Both parties need to sit down and negotiate a new EBA in good faith – without resorting to industrial action.”
The Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union withdrew its notice of industrial last week in the hope of returning to work before a second vote on the new enterprise agreement at Myrtleford on Friday and Saturday.
