The Swans are tied on 16 points with Magpies, but have a better percentage to hold down third spot with just six matches to play.
Federal coach Gerard Midson said its a similar situation to when the two sides met back in round five.
“It’s virtually an an eight-point game, so it’s pretty important for both sides,” Midson said.
“We’re starting to come together a little bit, it would be good get a full list out there at some stage.”
Full forward Jake Peters hasn’t played since booting seven goals, five in the opening term, against Cudgewa on June 3, but Midson is hopeful he will return from a injury to his ribs.
His side will have to pay attention to Border Walwa’s Daniel McCarthy, who has 41 goals for the season.
Corryong hosts Cudgewa, while league leaders Bullioh travel to Tumbarumba.
