The film Embrace has been inspiration for the group’s VCAL project – together they are developing a body-positive magazine and workshops for younger cohorts.
“I found some of her film confronting; I didn’t realise how widespread the issue is,” Ms Barton said.
“Since that film my perspective has really changed.”
Ms Brumfitt met the group at Hume Bank and told her story at a meet-and-greet.
“I am really proud to be spreading this message, especially to the next generation in front of me,” she said.
Almost 300 people attended Embrace screenings, with Hume Bank donating $10,000 to the Women’s Centre for Health and Wellbeing.
